Bacterial Vaginitis (AKA Bacterial Vaginosis), is an vaginal bacterial infection that nearly 65 percent of women in the world have suffered from each year. The infection has several distinct symptoms, itchiness, burning, thin-milky discharge and a foul fish-like odor. The symptoms are intensified during and after sexual intercourse. It has been known to surface when women introduce certain changes to their daily habits, and this can offset the harmony (pH levels and bacteria levels) inside the vagina.

Treatment:

1. Treatment of vaginitis is your sole way out when all the above had not been looked after and you have failed in forestalling vaginitis. But, the issue is which treatment you should go for because different types of vaginitis need different treatment. One from yeast and one from bacteria can't have the same treatment.

2. Take Supplements - Any of the vitamins, goldenseal, garlic and Femanol. Femanol is a natural supplement used to cure feminine odors (one of the unpleasant side effects of bv). There also lactobacilli capsules you can take to help increase the good bacteria counts inside your vagina. This way you can naturally fight off the infection.

3. Rose Water and Sandalwood Oil - Make a mixture of this, chill it and apply it directly to your vagina with a soft cloth. The sandalwood oil is a natural antimicrobial and the rose-water is an herbal perfume. You can pick these up online for relatively cheap prices. Just make sure to only put the solution, and not just one of each. Sandalwood oil is very strong and HAS to be diluted. It should never be applying to the skin by itself. As long as you mix the two you will be fine.

4. The cure that is more than just a vaginitis treatment is to change your diet, add in vitamins and supplements, and do whatever you can to help your body become immune to BV. There are many herbs you can take that promote vaginal health and they will all help you get a stronger immunity to BV.

5. Recurrent yeast infections are sometimes treated with oral fluconazole (Diflucan) and itraconazole Sporanox), or clotrimazole (Mycelex, Gyne-Lotrimin, Femcare) for 6 months.

6. Unsweetened yogurt is highly recommended as it contains lactobacillus acidophilus or a bacterium that fights off yeast outbreaks. Yogurt can be directly applied to the swollen area as a topical treatment or used as a douche solution when it is mixed with water.

7. Dip a tampon in plain yogurt and insert it into your vagina. Repeat this several times a day. The ingredients in the yogurt have the ability to restore the natural balance of the vagina. Another home remedy that has been proven to provide amazing results is garlic. Inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina can knock out a yeast infection in no time.

8. The path to a successful bacterial vaginitis treatment begins with learning how to get your vagina's flora or "ecosystem" back into the natural swing of things. This can be easily done by reducing the symptoms with natural methods and remedies you can do from home.
